Study Biblical & Theological Studies at LBC

If your desire is to explore the Bible by teaching in a Christian school or ministry setting OR to pursue a seminary or graduate degree in the areas of biblical studies and theology, then this program was designed for you. LBC’s on-campus Biblical & Theological Studies program allows you to delve even deeper into the study of the Bible and theology than LBC’s general Biblical Studies program.

With required 30 Bible credits, coupled with an additional 41 credits in Bible & Theology, this program prepares students through courses in hermeneutics, biblical languages, church history and other interesting topics. In addition, students complete two field placements, a teaching class and a senior seminar to develop their perspectives, deepen their experiences and prepare for the next step after this impactful bachelor’s degree.

What makes the LBC Biblical & Theological Studies program unique?

This program gives the LBC student 41 extra credits in Bible & Theology, including courses in hermeneutics, historical theology, biblical Hebrew & Greek, and a course on teaching the Bible, with a capstone seminar course that will deal with an important historical or contemporary topic. Students will also have elective offerings that will allow them to go deeper into various books of the Bible and important themes from a theological perspective. Two additional aspects of the program are internships related to the student’s vocational aspirations, and a trip to biblical sites that will enhance their understanding of the Bible.

Career Paths for a Biblical & Theological Studies Degree

The Biblical & Theological Studies bachelor’s degree prepares students for teaching the Bible and theology in Christian schools, church ministries and parachurch ministries, in the US and around the world. It will also prepare students to take advanced degrees in biblical & theological studies so that they might teach in colleges and seminaries.

Biblical & Theological Studies Program Goals – In this program, students will…
  • Articulate an advanced knowledge of Scripture, theology, the gospel and the overarching metanarrative of Scripture.
  • Apply a rigorous hermeneutical method of research skills in biblical interpretation employing the original languages.
  • Demonstrate an evangelical, biblically informed, and historically and culturally sensitive theological method.
  • Critique differing biblical, theological, cultural and historical views.
  • Display a commitment to lifelong spiritual growth scripturally, theologically and missionally in a church community.
  • Summarize historical trends and movements within the history of Christian thought.
  • Communicate biblical truth and how it shapes life and ministry to others in written and oral form.
