Lancaster Bible College President Emeritus Dr. Peter W. Teague has released a new book titled, “Jesus Leader: Living, Loving, and Leading in the Steps of the Savior.” This transformative guide helps readers discover how Jesus’ teachings can shape and empower the leadership journey.
What does it mean to be a “Jesus leader”—someone who closely follows the Savior’s example in how we live and love others? Who not only demonstrates Christ-like character but the leadership qualities and principles we see Jesus modeling while He walked this earth?
From 50 years of experience in Christian leadership, Dr. Teague speaks to the urgent mission of true Jesus leadership in Christian organizations, churches and educational institutions. He lays out the character traits, defining marks and habits of a successful Jesus leader—and, conversely, the killers of good leadership and how to avoid them.
In “Jesus Leader,” Dr. Teague also offers practical tools and wise counsel for specific stages of the leadership journey, such as balancing the workplace with marriage and home, building a top-notch team, excelling in effective Christian stewardship and fundraising God’s way.
FURTHER LISTENING: Dr. Teague talks with Philip Dearborn, President of the Association for Biblical Higher Education, on ABHE’s “Biblical Higher Ed Talk” podcast titled, “Be a Jesus Leader: A President’s Reflections on Biblical Higher Ed.”
Dr. Teague’s ultimate desire and challenge is for every reader of “Jesus Leader” to apply its pages to God’s call, then go forth to think and live as a Jesus leader who wants to have an impact on the world and its inhabitants. According to Dr. Teague, “As you lead your organization in whatever the calling you have received from God, may your leadership be always and in all ways excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused and future-directed.”
“This book,” Dr. Teague continues, “is the culmination of my 50 years of experience in Christian leadership and ministry. It’s been a journey of learning, growing and reflecting on what it truly means to be a Jesus leader—someone who follows Christ’s example in how we live and love others and embodies the leadership qualities He modeled for us.”
In “Jesus Leader,” Dr. Teague delves into the core character traits and habits of effective Jesus leadership while also addressing the pitfalls that can derail even the most well-intentioned leaders.
“My ultimate hope for each reader is that you’ll embrace the principles in these pages and apply them to your unique calling,” Dr. Teague shares. “I want you to lead with excellence, centered in Christ, focused on people and directed towards the future. As you take on your leadership role, may your efforts profoundly impact your world and those you serve.”
