Lancaster Bible College & Trust Performing Arts Center Debut 2024-25 Season!

Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School and The Trust Performing Arts Center is kicking off a new Arts & Culture season, with exciting performances, dramatic theatre, college-community connections and a spotlight on student talent.

Event tickets for 2024-25 can be reserved at lbc.edu/events or lancastertrust.com/events; Trust season memberships and ticket packages are also available. The Trust Performing Arts Center is located at 37 N. Market St., Lancaster, and Good Shepherd Chapel at Lancaster Bible College is at 901 Eden Road. Tickets are also requested for free performances, which are noted.

September 6-7 & 13-14, 2024 | 7 p.m. Fridays; 2 & 7 p.m. Saturdays | Good Shepherd Chapel

Called “the greatest American play ever written,” Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” from 1938 is set in the fictional Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, between 1901 and 1913. The everyday lives of the town’s citizens are portrayed in three acts—through joy, heartache, relationships, love and questions about eternity. Theatregoers are immersed in a play within a play as the character of a stage manager takes the audience on an emotional journey. “Our Town” saw both Broadway success and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

A Lancaster International Piano Festival Concert

September 15, 2024 | 3 p.m. | Trust Performing Arts Center

One of the founding members of the Lancaster International Piano Festival, renowned pianist and chamber musician Xun Pan teaches at Millersville University and is a visiting professor at many universities and conservatories in China. He will be joined by Philadelphia Orchestra cellist Priscilla Lee and violinist Dara Morales. The Philadelphia Orchestra strives to share the transformative power of music with the widest possible audience in the Philadelphia region, across the country and around the world.

Since its inception in 2005, VOCES8 has toured venues around the globe. Now, the world-renowned British a cappella octet comes to Lancaster as part of its 100-concert tour across the U.S., United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Asia. Performing an extensive repertory in both concert and collaboration with leading musicians, orchestras, conductors and soloists, VOCES8 celebrates a diverse musical expression that is central to the ensemble’s performance and education ethos.

A Lancaster International Piano Festival Concert

Hailed as a “tremendously gifted” pianistic powerhouse, Russian-born Asiya Korepanova began learning piano at the age of 4, started composing at 6 and made her orchestral debut at age 9. She is recognized as a composer, visual artist and poet. Her repertoire encompasses over 60 piano concertos and solo works ranging from the early Baroque period to living composers.

This humorous adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s 1835 fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea” has endured on stages of all kinds for 65 years. The fun and frolicking musical comedy first opened off-Broadway in 1959 and moved to Broadway the following year starring Carol Burnett as Princess Winnifred. With quirky characters, catchy songs and a dose of royal intrigue, “Once Upon a Mattress” spins a tale of a kingdom where finding a true princess proves to be more challenging than expected.

Chamber Music America’s 2024 Ensemble of the Year, the Philadelphia-based Dalí Quartet reaches audiences across the U.S., Canada and South America with Latin American music. Members are from the U.S., Puerto Rico and Venezuela and have degrees from esteemed institutions. Dr. Christopher Shih enjoys a dual career as physician and concert pianist. Called a “thoughtful musician,” he has performed in major venues worldwide. A board-certified gastroenterologist in Lancaster, Shih is active in community and charitable services in medicine and music.

With a full range from Baroque and Dixieland to new compositions, the hallmark of any Canadian Brass performance is spontaneity, virtuosity and fun—but never at the expense of the music. With over 130 albums, education plays a key role in the Canadian Brass story, and millions have heard the musicians through appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “TODAY,” “Entertainment Tonight,” PBS specials and even “Sesame Street.”

Ballet Counterpointe boasts a talented ensemble of 18 dancers that is active in community outreach, open classes and education, and also creates opportunities for artists and choreographers by providing mentorship and collaboration opportunities.

Internationally renowned piano soloist Congyu Wang has garnered acclaim as a recitalist, accompanist and chamber musician. ​Born in Singapore, he has enjoyed success in many international piano competitions. Appearing in over 800 recitals, Wang has performed for VIPs, ambassadors, diplomats and dignitaries worldwide. He has released two albums and is an ambassador to several charitable foundations for young musicians and refugees.

A Lancaster International Piano Festival Concert

A founding member of the Lancaster International Piano Festival and internationally renowned pianist Xun Pan will be joined by five members of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra: Luigi Mazzocchi and Dana Allaband, violin; Petula Perdikis, viola; Sara Male, cello; and Brent Edmondson, double bass. Since its postwar beginnings, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra has sought to provide the vibrant arts community in Lancaster with outstanding performances, unique repertoire and educational services, rooted in a belief that music is fundamental to human industry and well-being.

Known for her “scene-stealing” charisma, soprano Amy Owens’ career has taken her to some of America’s most beloved venues, as she performs with acclaimed symphonies, philharmonics, operas, ensembles, theatres and art song societies around the country. A versatile collaborative artist and respected pedagogue, pianist Kendra Bigley has performed frequently at The Trust with well-known artists. She has worked extensively in musical theatre as an award-winning music director, conductor, vocal coach and accompanist.

In 1912, the Lancaster Trust Company finished its new headquarters—a Beaux Arts masterpiece from the imagination of Lancaster’s leading architect, C. Emlen Urban.
