Trio of Brothers Flourishes at LBC

From sharing a bedroom and dinner table in their parents’ house in New Castle, Colo., to sharing a bedroom and dinner table in an apartment in Lancaster, Pa., the Gerber brothers –

Sport Management majors Austin (’24), Hunter (’21 & ’23) and Chase (’27) Gerber have flourished as students and as brothers at LBC.

– have spent a lot of time together. Like so many Lancaster Bible College students, the trio of brothers came to LBC in search of a biblical education and Christian community – and found exactly what they were looking for.

Hunter was the first to make the cross-country trip to LBC in 2017, enrolling as a freshman to study Sport Management. Austin followed in 2020, and Chase arrived for the 2023-24 academic year, both choosing Sport Management like their brother. By the time Chase got to campus, Hunter had been hired as the Director of Athletic Communications at LBC. His first two student-workers were – you guessed it – younger brothers Austin and Chase.

Hunter chose LBC nearly a decade ago because his parents had a great experience at the Christian college they attended, and he wanted the same. He found it immediately at LBC.

“Coming from a public high school, I wanted a Christian, biblical college experience, and the minute I got to campus, doors opened for me,” Hunter said. “The genuine community of LBC is exactly what I wanted. I told my brothers they would find it if they came, too.”

With record fall enrollments in both 2023 and 2024, Hunter and the faculty and staff of LBC have a chance to invest in many students, living out the LBC Promise to “prepare students to flourish in college and life, inside and outside the classroom, from the conviction that Christ is real and the Bible is true.” When first-time students like the Gerber brothers come to LBC, they can expect that the college will prepare them to flourish in the good work God has called them to do.

“I flourished as a student at LBC,” Hunter said. “And now, as an employee, I can be a mentor to not only my brothers but also to other students around campus. I cherish being able to give back after so many people poured into me during my time as a student.”
