During the 2023-24 academic year, Lancaster Bible College marks 90 years of “educating Christian students to think and live and biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him in the Church and society.”
We celebrate our history, our heritage and God’s good work through alumni, faculty, staff and friends of LBC over many years. We rely on God’s wisdom and guidance as we equip students to make a lasting impact on our world: in Lancaster, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., online and through partnerships in Uganda, Brazil and beyond. Read stories, view videos, stay up to date on events, and learn more about the past, present and future of LBC right here.
A Truck Named Clyde
Students from the ’80s and ’90s may remember “the LBC Truck” named Clyde, who was purchased by LBC during Dr. Gilbert A. Peterson’s presidency, made many campus appearances and in parades throughout Lancaster County. Ownership was then transferred to George and Patricia (’08) Hauber, and for 20 years, George cared for the 1933 Ford Model B metallic “satellite silver” pickup, complete with its original cab, doors, lights and grill as well as oak rails that displayed LBC’s founding year: 1933. Clyde returns to LBC Sept. 25 for Founder’s Day through Homecoming Sept. 30.
50 Years of Chargers
Three LBC Chargers athletic teams have marked the historic milestone of 50 seasons! The men’s basketball team began play during the 1972-73 season under Coach Dean Spencer, and the women’s team started that same season as well under the guidance of Coach Sara Lauffer. Men’s soccer was the next Chargers team to hit the 50-season mark, beginning on the pitch in 1973 and coached by Tom Figart Jr. Men’s baseball has the next longest history, ready to mark 45 years in 2024. Keep up with all the LBC athletics action during this 90th anniversary year at lbcchargers.com.
